How to Detect if a Hard Drive is Running in Compatibility Mode

I discovered a way to determine if a hard-drive on a machine is running in MS-DOS compatibility mode.

Windows 95 (and Windows 98) automatically create a file in the windows directory called "IOS.LOG" if any of the drives are in compatibility mode.

This little trick solved my problem.
