ShortcutInfo / ShortcutMake and 1415 Error

Keywords: 1415 Error: Shortcut Functions: CoInitialize Failed

Question:

This is a very strange scenario. I'm using ShortcutInfo on a list of LNK files (the list is generated from FileItemize). ShortcutInfo on any of the link files works fine as long as an application by the name of JetForm is installed. However, when I uninstall JetForm, suddenly ShortcutInfo fails on all the LNK files in the list, with the error:
1415 Error: Shortcut Functions: CoInitialize Failed
If I delete all the LNK files, and then remake them with ShortcutMake, the ShortcutMake function fails with the 1415 error, IF JETFORM IS UNINSTALLED. If I reinstall JetForm, everything works fine again.

So my question is, what could JetForm be doing to affect these Shortcut functions???

Answer:

Sounds like JetForm's uninstall program is deleting an essential OLE DLL from your Windows system directory.

There are a bunch of OLE DLLs involved.

I imagine if you uninstalled JetForm and then (re)installed IE or some other OLE-centric package, it would take care of things.
