Deleting Orphan Shares

Keywords: Deleting Orphan Shares wntShareDel

Question:

Having some problems deleting shares that end in "$". Does wntShareDel prohibit this?

I'm trying to delete orphaned shares. That is, the folder was deleted without removing the share so the share still exists in LanmanServer\Shares.

In the past I've simply deleted the registry share directly, but thought wntShareDel might clean up better.

Answer:

Delete the following value in the registry:
	HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\shares
