Installing both 16- and 32-bit WinBatch

Keywords: WinBatch installation

Question:

Can I legally install the 16-bit version of WinBatch if I currently hold a registered copy of the 32-bit WinBatch?

Is it technically possible to install the 16-bit version on NT 4.0? I don't want it stepping on my current 32-bit copy.

Does the compiler for the 32-bit version compile script written using the 16-bit version?

Answer:

  1. Yes, you can use both the 16 and 32 bit versions of both WinBatch and the compiler. You should have both. Or download the latest copies and install them.

  2. You need the 16 bit compiler to compile a script for the 16 bit system.

  3. To prevent the versions stepping on each other ...

    • Either install off the source floppies, checking both the 16 and 32 bit checkboxes during the install.

    • or install the 16 bit zip file, THEN the 32 bit zip file to the same directory.
