Slow Startup of Dialog on Some Machines

Question:

I have an app that's running on several servers. But on one of them, the time between the background box zooming to full screen and the dialog editor control popping up can be 13 seconds. This doesn't happen on the other servers, which are exactly the same.

Any ideas?

Answer:

  1. Various system performanace flags toasted. Either forground or background performance is too high or low or something.

  2. DOS box runnning someplace with EXCLUSIVE flags set.
