WebBatch on ISP
Keywords: WebBatch on ISP
Question:
I think I know the answer to this question but am gonna ask anyway. No problem running WebBatch on systems on my home lan because I can actually install WebBatch on them.Question: Is it possible to use WebBatch on my sites hosted at an ISP?
I'm thinking I can't because webbatch will look for registration info or other things in the registry and not find them since I can't actually "install" webbatch. I can place necessary files in my website but can't really do an install.
Just thought I'd asked before I spent time trying.
Answer:
Pretty accurate. You would need more than the usual co-operation from your ISP. And they need to be running some kind of Windows Based web server, and most run some form of Linux. Many have "co-location" agreements where you can put your box in their premises.
What works *real* good in a lot of cases is a split setup, where all the html and big files are on the ISP's machine, and just the webbatch related traffic goes across a slow link. And that does not need to be much. All the images and stuff can be on the ISP machine.
