ACTIVEDS.dll could not be Found in the Specified Path

Keywords: ACTIVEDS.dll could not be found in the specified path

Question:

I created a script and am using it as a login script for 2000 and NT systems. Most of the NT system are getting errors. Some NT systems work though.

Error 1

WBT - MainV2.exe: MainV2.exe - Unable to Locate DLL

The dynamic link library ACTIVEDS.dll could not be found in the specified path C:\WINNT; This is a logn
path.
Error 2
WIL Extender load error

Extender DLL could not be loaded. It requires one or more dependant DLL's, which are invalid or unavailable.
If you are loading a network extender, make sure you have the appropriate network client software installed.

Answer:

Make sure the script has access to the ACTIVEDS.dll. As indicated in the help file, the ADSI extender needs access to this system dll in order to load. If you do not have this file on your system, that is a good indication that you do not have the ADSI client installed.

Active Directory runs on Windows 2000 and later domain controllers. However, client applications may be written for and run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT® 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. Client components are available for each operating system on the MSDN® Web site.
