Roboscripter

Keywords: Roboscripter

WinBatch -- via the Control manager extender (and now helped by the new RoboScripter utility that comes with it) -- can read all sorts of text from a reasonable variety of different windows in other applications.

The Control Manager extender offers quite a bit of power in automating scripts.

Unfortunately writing a Control Manager script has been quite difficult for novices, and quite tricky even for those who are experienced.

Developing a good Control Manager script took substancial work and lots of careful reading of the "trash.txt" file put out by the Window Analysis script.

Even then, it was tricky to control several windows all of which had the same title.

Up until now.

With the release of WinBatch 2001, a new utility, RoboScripter, has been added to the new Control Manager extender.

With RoboScripter, all you so is basically drag some cross-hairs over the window you wish to control. The RoboScripter dialog then gives you a pick list of various actions you can perform. You can run through your target application, controlling it via the RoboScripter interface, and then, when complete, paste an entire script to the clipboard.

You can then copy this pre-written script into Winbatch Studio for final tweaking.

The Control Manager help file has a short tutorial on the use of RoboScripter.

Suggestions for RoboScripter product improvement will glady be considered.
