Dial-Up Networking and the Connect To Dialog
Keywords: DUNConnect connectoid connect to dialog
Question:
Is it possible to call Explorer in such a way that it will automatically open one
of the Connections in Dial-Up Networking?
I know about the DunConnect function in the wwwsk34I Internet extender. However, it bypasses the
Connect To dialog and I want it displayed.
I created a shortcut to the Connection hoping ShortCutInfo would reveal
the Target. The properties of such shortcuts are weird. However they work, ShortCutInfo doesn't really
give back much useful information.
Answer:
- Sure. Just make a shortcut file to a desired dialup connection.
Then Just ShellExecute the shortcut lnk file.
- Just be sure NOT to exit the script until a connection has either been made or cancelled.
- If you exist the script too soon, the system auto-cancels any connection that might be in progress.
Question (continued):
But ShortCutMake cannot make a shortcut to such a connection, can it? If I'm wrong, what are the
parameters? If I'm right, can I look forward to a day when the WinBatch ShortCut functions work with
these damn connection things?
Answer:
- True, the shortcuts must be made beforehand.
- Actually with DunConnect the ConnectTo dialog will show up if no password is available.
- There is a dunConnectEx that allows to to stick in a password. However if there is missing information -
like a password in dunConnect - then the user is usually prompted for it.
- You can open a Dial-Up Networking "Connectoid" named "Toll" with the command
rundll rnaui.dll,RnaDial Toll
case is important in the parameter list.
