LAFFDB Extender De-emphasized
LAFFDB is being de-emphasized in favor of products like MYSQL or ADO available elsewhere.
It can still be downloaded in the 2006C extender archive file.
De-emphasized does not mean unsupported. It means that at some future time we wish to drop support for it. At this time we begin the process by trying to get less people to use it.
We no longer support Windows 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.11 NR 3.50 NT 3.51. Support is being reduced for Windows 95, Windows 08 Windows NT 4.0
There will be no 64-but support for LAFFDB in the 64 bit versions of Vista. We expect LAFFDB will continue to work with 32-but versions of Windows for the forseeable future.
A few other extenders may also have issues in making the leap from 32 to 64 bit versions of Windows.
Mostly we know this will be an issue as people move to 64 bit hardware in the future and we are beginning to encourage people to reduce their dependencies on software that we know will not be rewritten for 64-bit hardware.
Note: the 32 bit version of LAFFDB running on a 32 bit version of Winbatch on Vista 64 seems like it will continue to work.
