Frequency of dll updates

Keywords: Frequency WinBatch WIL DLL updates

Question:

What is the frequency of dll changes? How often do they get updated by your company?

The reason for the question is that everything within the defence department is under configuration management and several other sections use different releases of Winbatch, A request was made to waiver the configuration change process to allow for the updating of winbatch dll's as they become available.

Answer:

My condolences. The WIL DLL name does get updated with each release. This is to help maintain any existing EXEs functionality.
WBD__44I.DLL

The WinBatch DLL names are made up of 3 parts. The first three characters identify the DLL type.

WBD - WIL Language Interpreter DLL
The second two characters are used for version identification purposes. The letters are chosen are based on the version number( which is related to the release year) and the next letter in the alphabet. These values will change for each new version of the DLL.
__ = BQ, or AK, (some combination of letters)
The final three characters reference the version format of the DLL.
44I – 32-bit WIL DLL
64I – 64-bit WIL DLL
