Question:
When I run setup.exe, I get a message 1420 ShortCutMake functions:Error Saving Shortcut. Why is this happening????Answer:
Installing FileManu and Popmenu require:- Windows NT 4.0 or newer or Windows 95 or newer running the "Explorer" shell.
- ecurity access to your startup directory
WinBatch is attempting to install popmenu.exe in the start menu and to update the STARTUP group on your start menu. For some reason we are not able to write the file to that directory and setup is choking.
So... you could:
- Login on an account with higher privileges so that the start menu can be updated.
- Re-install WinBatch, but de-select the option to install FileManu and PopMenu.
- Change permissions on the start menu so that you are allowed to update it.
- Copy the INSTALL directory of the CD to your hard drive, then edit the setup.inf file there.
Then run the setup.exe from your hard drive.
You can delete the copy on your HD later.
Look for the "setup.inf" file in the Install directory, open it with an editor (ie.notepad). Within the file search for the word "pop32i". We are going to edit the following line:
f4x10=disk1, normal|startup|apppath, pop32i.ex_, system\popmenu.exe, system\PopMenu.exe
Change to: (by taking out "startup|")f4x10=disk1, normal|apppath, pop32i.ex_, system\popmenu.exe, system\PopMenu.exe
