JAZ drive install problem

Keywords: compiler upgrade

Question:

I've upgraded my 32 bit WinBatch Compiler to 97D from 97B and I am now trying to update my 16bit Compiler to 97D but the Setup program keeps coming back with a message box saying "You are trying to install a 16 bit application on a 32 bit enviroment ... Do you want to continue?" and when I say OK it seems like it tries to copy the files but then it just goes back to the same message box and repeats the cycle. In the past I've been able to install the 16bit version inthe same directories as the 32bit version. I code for both environments from a Win95 machine. Is there a different way setting this new version up under Win95 ?

Answer:

No difference. Actually I just tried it. No problem.

Hint: Install the 16 bit version first THEN the 32 bit version - but that does not address the problem you are having now.

I would look in the WinBatch/System directory and make sure NO files are set to read-only.

Other than that I'm stumped. Hmm you did unzip it onto a hard drive temp directory and you are installing out of that temp directory to someplace else??

Resolution:

Thanks for the reply. I found my problem. I was installing from a Jaz drive. The setup program thinks it is a floppy and has problems with it. I used a Jaz utility that makes the drive look like a permanent drive and the setup worked fine. Thanks for your help.
