Accessing PPP login with DUN

Keywords: DUN PPP Scripter

Question:

I am currently evaluating WinBatch to see if it can help me with the following problem:

I am using DUN to connect to a host using the 'normal' PPP server protocol. However, I need to access the telnet-ish exchange when a user logs in, as my WinBatch program has to pass 'secret' codes to enable a secure login.

Also, the login procedure may change depending what 'secure' mode the user is in, hence the normal MS DUN interface is not enough.

I have successful written the code to do a DUN connection but I can't get at the underling exchange.

The problem with using an MS script (as far as I know) is that someone on the PC can read it, which I do not want to happen! In any case, has the 'scripter' been much enhanced from the 'standard' version which ships with 95?

I should add that I would prefer a solution that works on both Win95 and NT, but most importantly on Win95.

Answer:

I think you need the SCRIPTER from Microsoft to script the DUN connection. There are various versions of scripter. The newer ones have more features than the older ones.

Enhanced versions of SCRIPTER are available from the MS web site (someplace).

I'm not sure what exactly you need to do, but I'm afraid that WinBatch probably will not help in establishing in the secure DUN connection. It operates are a somewhat higher level hence Scripter.
