Can You Run a Uncompiled Script as a Service

Question:

Is it possible to run a non-compiled winbatch script as a service? I've tried IntControl (1001, 1, 0, 0, 0) on Win XP, but its quitting on me when i log out.

Similarly can I install a non-compiled script as a service using the Win32 network extender?

Answer:

I dont believe so. The problem is that you would need to tell WinBatch.exe to run as a service then pass the .wbt as a commandline parameter. WinBatch.exe is not designed to run as a service.

The Win32 Network Extender contains the wntSvcCreate which allows you to add a service to the service control manager database. You could probably install winbatch.exe as a service, however it will not run properly as a service.

Question:

I think all the examples in the tech database are for compiled scripts is this right?

Answer:

Yes, That is correct. Current version of WinBatch expect the compiled script to have the .exs file extension.
