Vista and Interactive Services
This issue has been discussed on & off over the past year in various ways, re: service mode scripts, interactive desktop access, locked workstations, disconnected TS sessions, etc....
I've mentioned a few time that Microsoft is planning on removing interactive desktop access for all services and that it is recommended to *NOT* write service mode scripts that rely on access to the interactive desktop.
Here is a link to a Microsoft research paper on the subject that very nicely describes the issue and Microsoft's official direction w/respect to eliminating interactive desktop access for services & applications running in session #0.
