Elevation Prompt

Question:

I have recently started to set up a computer with Vista Home premium 64. As I do not own the compiler ;-) I am used to running the WBTs directly. However, Vista always wants to have me answered the question if I am really really sure that I want to run my WBT :-( Is there any way to omit this message???

Answer:

We have been making changes to WinBatch For Vista with UAC on. WinBatch.exe now has a manifest and is signed.

Starting with the 2007D version you can also run different versions of WinBatch to keep Vista happy.

You may need to change the extension of your ".wbt" files to ".wbt_if" to avoid the 'elevation' prompt. This causes the system to call a version of WinBatch that has an embedded manifest that keeps Vista UAC happy. Keep in mind that some WinBatch and extender functions do not work in the "_if" version of WinBatch. In those cases you need to use one of the other file extensions and possibly endure the cursed 'elevation' prompt.
