WinBatch and 64 Bit Windows

keywords: 64 Bit Windows Vista

Question:

Does anybody know of a document that focuses on WinBatch and 64-bit?

Answer:

The only issues encountered so far have been:
  • File and registry redirection issues : The file/registry redirection issue applies to both Vista x64 and XP x64, and the changes made for Vista seem to work on XP. IntControl 92.

  • The inability of some Control Manager functions to access 64 bit application windows.

  • The Windows Vista and UAC. In order to run a compiled WinBatch EXE, that contains Control Manager Extender functions, on a Windows System with UAC enabled requires that:
    • The Exe Manifest specifies uiAccess=true
    • The Exe is 'Signed' by a 'Trusted Authority'.
    • The Exe is installed in or under the "Program Files" folder or in the "Windows\System32" folder

  • A lack of support for Netware Directory Services (NDS) in XP x64's ADSI sub-system.
Haven't looked into the ADSI-NDS problem yet.

  • The WinMacro recorder/playback function is inoperable in Vista and 64 bit systems in general.

  • Also the Filemenu Utility only likes the 32 bit version of Windows Explorer. You can run the provided "filemenu.exe" to run the correct version of Windows Explorer,
