n4CapturePrt Server-name Question
Keywords: n4CapturePrt server name
Question:
Reading the help file it states one of the parameters for n4CapturePrt is Server-name. What I need to know is how to get
"around" the hardcoded server-name. We have many 4.x servers in our environment and have print queues on many/all
of them. Can I specify the tree-name or maybe a null instead of a specific server name. The queue is not always on the
same server.
Answer:
I think you do need to somehow relate the queue name to the server name. Maybe an ini file next to the scipt that it can
interrogate to get the server name?
Question (cont'd):
Isn't the point of the Novell 4.x tree structure to make it so that the server name isn't as important as the resources
available. We have about 150 printers spread across 10 or so servers.
For example, right now I could type "capture l1 q=queuename" and get the print queue captured. I did not have to know
where the queue was located, just that I'm in the right context (where 10 servers are). Any chance of easing up on the
server parameter? Novell doesn't require it if you're in the right context.
Answer:
Our extender is not currently that smart. I'll add this to the suggestion list.
