Lotus Notes Prevents WB from Sending Password

Keywords: Lotus Notes Password

Question:

Running NT 4 Server with Lotus Notes v4.6 and Powerbuilder 5 exe.

WinBatch runs Powerbuilder exe, which loads Notes. WinBatch is then supposed to enter password.

When the NT server console is locked, and Notes display's password dialog box, WinBatch will not enter password.

Is their any way around this?

Answer:

I'm not sure what "server console is locked" means.

In any case some applications - especially when a password needs to be entered - lock down the entire system.

To tell if it did really "lock down the entire system" simply try to do *anything* else. Switch to another window. Run a new application from the start button. Anything like that. If you can still move around windows and just let the password entry box sit there, then the system is not locked (to our definition). If you cannot do *anything* then the system is locked down.

When the system is locked down like this -- WinBatch is not running and cannot feed keystrokes to the password box.

My understanding is that the (Notes) developers feared (and rightly so) that if they allowed other programs to run while the user entered the password, some other program could capture the password and perhaps email it to Albania.
