Producing Barcodes

Keywords: Producing Barcodes

Question:

I have a merge file that contains an 8 character file number (letters and numbers).

I have written the WinBatch script to retrieve the file number from the merge file. Does anyone know some software compatible with WinBatch that will let me dump these 8 characters and convert to a bar codes for an HP printer?

Answer:

Hmmm. Maybe you just need a bar-code font. A little translation from the data you read from the file to the characters required to generate a specific bar code and you would be in business. Ummm

Although I have never used their products, I have heard many good reports about Elfring Soft Fonts.

And they have trial version to prove the concept. Maybe at...

I'm undecided if a TrueType or a LaserJet font is what you need. WinBatch usually does not print directly, but the printing would be stuffed thru some other program.

However I've printed directly, but always with default fonts before. But presumably fussing with some of the eval copies, you can figure out which one you need.

I believe the eval copies are *almost* like the real font, except there is some slight distortion that prevents bar code readers from actually reading the bar code.

http://www.rpvreport.com/ also claims to do barcodes.
