Editbox Text Changed Event

Question:

Is there a way to have the callback function only check the changed editbox text after the focus has been changed to another control? Basically I want it to check the text after they have tabbed to another control or clicked on another control.

I don't want it to check the value on each character that is typed, only the whole value after they are done entering it. I also do not know the total length of the text, so I cannot control it based on string length.
