Setup32 Caused an Exception Error in Module Kernel32.DLL

Keywords: Setup32 Caused an Exception Error in Module Kernel32.DLL

Question:

I tried to install an old copy of Winbatch for the first time, and got the following message: "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down". On closer examination, I found: "Setup32 caused an exception 00000006H in module KERNEL32.DLL at 014f:bff833C4.

What's the problem?

Answer:

Generally the only thing that makes WinBatch keel over is a network disconnect of some sort? Are you doing something like installing to a laptop over a networked floppy.

Stuff to try. Recommended solution: Download the latest version of WinBatch from our download area, unzip and install the new version. You license numbers will make the downloaded zip a real version.

Alternate solution. Make a scratch directory on your hard drive (say C:\XXX) copy all the files from all the floppies there, then run the setup program from the XXX directory. You can delete the XXX directory after setup is complete.
