GroupWise Info

Keywords: Groupwise Info netwarex

Question:

I am somewhat of a novice using Winbatch and Novell so I have a basic question. Is there a Winbatch command that provides me the Groupwise info of a logged in user? For example, if I were logged into an NT domain as "guest" but logged into Groupwise as "xyz", is there a command that would provide me the "xyz" info?

Answer:

Do you have the Novell Client software installed on the workstation on which you are using GroupWise?

If the answer is "yes", then download the NetWareX extender and look at the functions in the help file. The function nwWhoAmI() can tell you what user account you used to authenticate to any particular NDS tree or bindery server.

If you are using a variant of the GroupWise client that connects to NDS via LDAP and which runs w/o the Novell Client installed [IIRC, such a variant does exist], then you will need to go the route of using WinBatch as an OLE client that can drive the GroupWise client. GroupWise does have an Object API so that OLE client programs can directly manipulate data in GroupWise. You can get a free download of the GroupWise Object API docs from Novell's developer support web site at http://developer.novell.com if you are interested...
